Julia comes from near Heilbronn in Germany. Her big goal was always Australia, and she saved up for it with a part-time job. The trip turned into a career and, eventually, her own agency.
In October 2010, Julia fulfills her dream and travels to Australia with her cousin and her best friend. That same year, Ed, originally from England, also comes to Australia.
Julia starts out in the backpacker travel business, advising travelers who want to make their travel dreams come true – just like she did.
Julia is promoted to manager in Melbourne.
Ed convinces Julia to go self-employed. The idea: travel the world and keep helping travelers at the same time. Julia plans trips from places including South Africa, Brazil and Colombia.
Time To Backpack has grown quickly and works exclusively online. Today, the team has six members.
Before we book anything, we want to know who you are and what matters to you. That way, as a solo backpacker you won’t end up on a tour full of couples and families – and if you’d rather sit by the campfire in the evening than party, you’ll get the right tour.
Our advice costs you nothing. Because we book lots of tours, accommodation and transportation, we get better prices than individual travelers. How much you save depends on the size of your package. For campervans, you pay no more than when booking directly with the rental company – and no booking fees.
We know the hotspots you shouldn’t miss and places hardly anyone has heard of. Many of us have traveled through Australia or New Zealand by campervan ourselves.
You have a local contact 24 hours a day: for questions, for planning and for problems on the road – even if a car gets stuck.
Our team knows Australia and New Zealand from their own travels. Here’s a quick introduction to everyone.
Julia has professional experience in travel across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Southeast Asia. She loves planning a route that suits your wishes, your time and your budget.
Ed is originally from England, came to Australia in 2010 and takes care of everything to do with marketing. He learned German for Julia’s sake, and in his spare time a lot revolves around soccer and golf.
Anna comes from the Southern Palatinate in Germany and has driven all the way around Australia in a campervan, followed by New Zealand. In Perth, she worked in customer service for a campervan rental company, which is why she knows campervans particularly well.
Laura comes from a small town between Leipzig and Dresden and discovered her passion for travel as an au pair in the USA. She has explored New Zealand’s North and South Islands by campervan and traveled Australia’s East Coast from Melbourne to Cairns.
Alina comes from northern Germany and spent ten months backpacking alone in Southeast Asia after finishing school. In Australia, she spent her first few months in Sydney, traveled parts of the East Coast and lived and worked in Cairns and Perth.
In 2019, Anna set off on a ten-month trip, including three months in a campervan on New Zealand’s North and South Islands and a road trip from Melbourne to Exmouth. She looks after our social media channels and creates content, posts and reels for our community.
